Frequently Asked Questions
You should always try to make an appointment first. Of course, we will do our best to accommodate walk-ins, but our scheduled appointments will be given priority (except in the case of an emergency).
Without a prior booking, you may find yourself waiting longer than otherwise necessary. Contact our reception and let’s see how we can help.
Please bring your ID, medical aid card, any medications you’re taking, and previous medical records if available.
Yes, we have limited after-hours services and emergency weekend slots. Please contact reception to confirm availability.
It typically covers the patient history, a physical examination, possible immediate treatment if needed, scripts for chronic and acute medication and a recommended treatment plan or referral as determined by your doctor.
If you have been prescribed chronic medication, then your script could have up to six (6) months of repeats. After that, by law, your doctor has to re-examine you before issuing you with a new script.
If you need a copy of an existing script (if you are changing pharmacies, for example) then you are welcome to contact reception through any of our contact channels and they will be able to assist you without the need for a re-examination.
Yes, most major medical aids are accepted. Please check with our receptionist regarding your specific medical aid.
We also recommend that you check the details of your specific plan with your medical aid – certain medical aid schemes place restrictions on where you may go, or how often, or have other exclusions that may affect your cover.
Point-of-care testing covers a range of non-invasive tests that can provide almost immediate results from a small amount of blood, saliva or urine (depending on the test).
The main advantages of point-of-care testing is that you can get results significantly faster, and cheaper, than if your samples had to be sent away for laboratory testing.
Our point-of-care tests include:
- cholesterol
- anemia (hemoglobin)
- malaria
- monkey pox
- HIV
- covid
- pregnancy
Your doctor will recommend the appropriate tests during your consultation, if necessary. You should let your doctor if you have any specific concerns and they will give be able to advise you best.
Besides our point-of-care tests that give results immediately, most, but not all, other tests will provide results within 24–72 hours, depending on the type of analysis required. Kindly note that all Biochemistry test results done outside of our practise are subject to delays from their side.
Please direct any queries regarding the receipt of test results to reception, or directly to your doctor (email preferred).
While there may be some indicators that would suggest the need sutures (a deep cut which won’t stop bleeding, for example), it is more correct to say that if you are concerned about a cut, or any injury, to the point that you think it might possibly need medical attention, then you should seek medical attention.
Let your doctor perform a professional examination and determine the need for sutures, or any other treatment.
